Championing Women In Tech & Digital
5.30 - 8.30PM - Wed 7th March 2018 @ QUAD DERBY
An evening of inspiration as our guest speakers will share their experiences of championing women in technology, the importance of female role models as well as advice for achieving business and professional success.
Ghazala Ahmad-Mear is a surgeon in the NHS working in Sheffield. She is also an Associate Postgraduate Dean for Health Education England - Yorkshire and the Humber, and is a wife and a mother of two.
In her spare time she likes adventure!
On the 15th January 2018, the South Pole Energy Challenge became the first polar expedition in history to use only renewable energy. This was clean energy technologies in the coldest, driest and most inhospitable place on earth. By personal invitiation, she was the only female member of the team.
Ghazala is very passionate about inspiring people to engage in renewable energy technology for a more sustainable future.

Georgia Vicars is a fast-rising Derby born-and-bred technology professional. That means she also happens to be a woman working in technology.
As a winner of the Vice Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Contribution to the College of Engineering and Technology at the University of Derby, Georgia's technical ability and drive to succeed have seen her carve out an eye-catching career in Derby's thriving creative and technology sector.
But, as a young woman with a career in tech, Georgia's experiences haven't always been easy - even if they have all been worthwhile. Despite Georgia's credentials, she's had to overcome hurdles that men will never face; and now she wants to talk about how we can all work to change that.
