We are really pleased to be collaborating with Derby College for the final instalment of the Mainframe Masterclass Presents... series.
The Digital Academy at Derby College provide a range of Creative Digital courses allowing students the opportunity to practice and hone their technical skills.
The exhibition will showcase a mixture of year 1 and year 2 students final major projects from a range of disciplines.
Join us in the Digital Studio between 4.00pm - 5:30pm and dive in to a range of virtual Escape Rooms created by our Level 3 Games Development students in collaboration with local escape room, Make Your Escape. All games have been designed, created and tested by students using industry-standard software such as Unreal Engine, Autodesk Maya and Quixel, with accessibility options available to make the games as inclusive as possible.
Will you escape from a laboratory overrun with killer robots? Or maybe you want to try investigating a haunted office block? Whatever your preferences, there’s bound to be an experience for everyone!
The exhibition will also showcase how the students have delved in the world of competitive gaming and the surrounding industry.
Esports is a hugely popular recreational activity that also offers many job and career opportunities around the world. Throughout the year the students have worked hard in a variety of different units that explore events management, live streamed broadcasting, business applications of social media, enterprise and entrepreneurship, ethical and current issues in health, wellbeing and fitness in Esports.
Digital Multimedia focuses on the creation and development of screen-based disciplines such as 3D design, digital photography, image editing, graphic design and interactive prototypes for web and apps. This year, for their Final Major Project (FMP) our first-year students were given the theme of Y2K, an era spanning 1995 - 2004 whereas our second-year students were given creative freedom to plan, research and create a project of their choice using the skills and knowledge learnt over the two years they have studied with us. This exhibition showcases our students’ creative responses to the given theme and their own stimuli through a range of outcomes such as photography, websites, app prototypes, digital graphics and many more.
Join us in the Sir John Hurt Cinema to hear how the students have worked across the various themes set to create their final pieces of work.
Level 3 Creative Media is an engaging course for those who have a true interest in the process of making moving image productions. Focus is not only given to the theoretical and technical aspects of moving image, but developing skills in audio work as well. This may be creating set audio pieces for radio, podcasts or around creating foley sounds for animations. This year, for their Final Major Project (FMP) our first-year students were given the theme of era, and our second-year students were given creative freedom to plan, research and create a project of their choice, using the skills and knowledge learnt over the two years they have studied with us. The creative media exhibition showcases students final pieces incorporating all aspects of moving image production.
Come and join us to explore and engage with the students projects, and also to meet and celebrate the students who have worked hard throughout their time within the Digital Academy.
